Mariemont Recreation Association Volleyball is open to all 3rd – 6th grade girls living within the Mariemont School District. The MRA volleyball program began in the spring of 2012. 2018 will be our seventh season and will again be held in the MHS Auxiliary Gym from 7-8:30 p.m., on Wednesdays, beginning April 4th and will last for 8 weeks, ending May 23rd. The first few sessions will be exclusively practices, and the remaining five or six sessions will include warm-up, drills and then practice games.
If your daughter is interested in volleyball, but is involved with another spring sport, she is still encouraged to come to either or both of the first two sessions, just to see what volleyball is like. Each year there are a few girls that play volleyball and another spring sport.
Purpose and Goals:
- Introduce girls in the Mariemont School District to competitive volleyball in grade school to learn the game, have fun and better prepare them for junior high competition.
- Experience is not expected and all participants will practice and play, similar to rec. softball.
- Make this a fun, learning experience, develop good sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork.
- To learn the rules of the game, the techniques involved, and develop their skills.
Starting in the fall of 2018, we will participate in the Cincinnati Premier Youth Volleyball League (CPYVL). The 2018 Fall season will start with practices in August.
Equipment: MRA will provide team T-shirts and the players will need gym shoes. Knee pads are strongly recommended.
